For the foreseeable future, early Spring will see Virginia’s social studies teachers struggling to find new and innovative ways to review course content. In addition, students still need “the facts” in order to engage in higher-order thinking characteristic of historical interpretation. To these ends, this session will introduce teachers to a unique lesson-plan strategy that combines several online learning tools to provide fun, engaging, and effective SOL review in the classroom!
In this session, teachers will learn how to develop an engaging 60-minute review lesson utilizing a combination of Educplay, Quizlet Live, Quizizz, Kahoot! and DoInk (iPad). By utilizing multiple review strategies, teachers will maximize engagement either through whole-group activities OR through stations. Finally, students will have an opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of more abstract concepts an assessment which utilizes Green Screen technology and the DoInk app.
